One of my ancestors was an attendant in a lunatic asylum, can anyone please tell me what this means. Also, what did a page boy do? Was he some form of errand boy?

Thanks in advance,

Chrissie and Keeley.

A page boy would be a young male servant if it is down as an occupation. An attendant at a lunatic asylum would be a worker who could do various jobs from just looking after the inmates or supervising them if they were capable of doing some sort of work. Asylums were just a place to put people society did not want to see so there were no "nurses".
