Janet 693215 Report 14 Oct 2008 19:02

My great great great grandfather appears on the 1851 census in Millbank Prison (London) but he lived and was convicted in Ipswich.

I bet he's mistranscribed or his names are transposed.

He would still be on the census even if he was in prison - listed as a prisoner or inmate.

What was his name and when/where was he born?

Can anyone tell me if I can find info on relatives that have been in prison. I know my great grandfather was convicted of forgery and there is no mention of him on censurs between 1881 and 1901 so believe this was when he was imprisoned.I think it must have been Winson Green as he lived in Aston, Birmingham
Thanks
