I suppose its a possibility he could have changed his occupation. I am wondering if he emigrated to USA Canada or Australia but I don't know how to find the records.

Diana,

As Menzies can be pronounced in radically different ways you may need to look for very variant spellings.

You say he was your ancestor........is that in a direct line?

Or was he related to a direct ancestor?

I have traced an ancestor to 1861 census and then no further record. I can't see that they died. Born 1841 in Manchester William Henry Menzies., son of William and elizabeth. Any ideas where I could look?
