I am trying to help a friend with some family history and he has been told that one of his relations was hanged in 1923

Does anyone know of a website where I may be able to get information the name was Frederick William Keeling of Haringay. I have tried to google but nothing.

Thank you

Teresa

Not sure if this is him?

Could be worth looking at newspapers of the day.

A Frederick Keeling was executed on 11 April 1922 for the murder for Emily Agnes Dewberry. He was 54 years old. The hanging occurred at Pentonville Prison.

You might want to get hold of the death cert for the victim as they may give insight into the circumstances.

I was just thinking, if you can get the death certificate, don't they usually have the cause of death as "death by judicial hanging" or some similar wording? It would probably be on his death certificate which might prove it one way or the other.

He was Frederick Alexander Keeling and was a plasterer....the story is available on "the Times online" and it looks as though it will cost £4.95
