I wish to order online a death certiificate for 1996. I have done this before and coped OK.
The cert I require has a reference I'm not familiar with.... What goes on what line?

Here is the record of registration....

Registration district: Sglos
Register number: B3
District and Subdistrict: 3041B
Entry Number: 77

The GRO site has 2 lines
1) district name and number
2) entry number

Any help or advice would be great... Thank you

Think I'd phone the office first to make sure

Did you get the info from the BMD listings? The full ones?

Looks a bit odd ...

It is copied from the full listings on Ancestry.

I've not seen one like that format....
I'm following up a new lead, ..Got all excited and now can't fathom it :-(

If you ORDER over the phone, it costs an extra 1.50, so just learn how to fill in the online form.

I have to order a death certificate from Wirrell (Birkenhead) I am in Canada, and the application online says I have to buy some kind of coupon from the money exchange, include 2, plus the fee for the cert.and I am wanting to know if this is an old application or is that the way it is done?

Carol,

It would be easier for you to use the gro

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro

You need the reference no, if you don't have that someone could find it for you.

Carol, that's the way you have to do it from Wirral, since they don't accept credit cards - the GRO does, so you just go thru their secure site and they charge your card with 7GBP, then Royal Bank or whoever converts that to Canadian currency (at a slightly unfavourable rate) and that shows up on your statement. It should cost about $15 which includes postage.

You put the district number and name 4 numbers and a letter

Then entry number which in your case is 77

Hi Gwynne, I have found that when ordering fairly recent death certificates I have had to state my relationship to the deceased - although I have never had to prove what I say.

That was quick, ...It's here.!

I just put the 77 on the last line.

The certificate poses more questions than it answers, so I'll have to do some more digging now to find what I need to know.
