Is it possible for me to check BMD records in Australia online?
One of my relatives went to Queensland from London in the 1920's and went on to have a family there, but I don't know her married name.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thank you.

Hi Immy, because of privacy laws in OZ we have the 100 year rule & births are not available on line after 1907. There are lots of sites available online but no births. I am not sure of the protocol on this site but if you contact me I can have alook at electoral rolls to 1936 & see if I can find afamily for you.
Regards
Boydi

.....Just a little bit more to add to Ruth's help ..... the 'QLD State Library' (on-line) will check their records incl electoral rolls from 1920's+ -and MAY have newspaper notices of relevant BMDs .... They can also check death notices (given date & (married) name) -hopefully they may have suggestions too. (even a newspaper to place an 'ad' in) ....Valerie (WA)

Thanks Valerie for your advice.
My problem with this relative, is that I don't have her married name. I was hoping to find her through her maiden name on her son's birth registration. Onwards and upwards though, I won't give up.
Thanks again.

Immy

Hi Immy

You can search Queensland Marriages on line for the period 1829-1929. Hopefully she married 1920-1929 time frame.

Post a few more details we may be able to help you.

bye Helen

Thanks you Helen for your kind offer of help. I'll tell you all I know about Edith and we'll see.
Edith Selina E. Gloyns was born in Shoreditch, London in 1901. Family lore is that she went to Queensland and had two sons there. We don't know who she married. I haven't been able to trace a marriage in England for her, so maybe she married in Australia.
Not much to go on, I know, but I live in hope.
Many thanks for your time.
Regards,
Immy

Hi Immy

Well I am stumped, I cannot find a passenger record for your Edith Selina E Gloyns going anywhere. I tried Gloyn and Gloynes but nothing sorry.

So it is looking more like she immigrated after she married.
