Hi could someone point me in the right direction please ? Im trying to find information on a Samuel Andrew Newton ,I know he married Emma Reed in 1898 in London . I have found Emma and her son Samuel A in the 1901 cencus ,my problem is i cant seem to find samuel senior any where in 1901. I know they had another child called Albert and he was born in 1909.Any help would be greatly recieved thankyou Trevor

im not sure .i shall order certs for samuel and emma i know when they married .and i know they had atleast 6 children 1of which was albert born 1909 but thankyou all i do appreciate all the help trevor

On the census for 1901 does it say Emmas status? Is she shown as married? In that area it is possible he was at sea - do you know if he were a seaman?

it has emma as head and also as married

His dad was a seaman.

Can I ask why this is a "brickwall"? Not finding him in 1901 isn't stopping you tracing his roots.

Thankyou Portland Rose,maybe i havebeen looking in all the wrong places for him,and i do appreciate your help.The only documentation i had about him was on his sons marrage certifcate in which it had him down as a labourer.I have ordered his marrage certificate .Once again thankyou for your help trevor

You are quite right that this is not a brickwall. However, I am sure you will agree that it is sound genealogical procedure to plot our relatives in every available census. It has certainly saved me from error and it can yield some useful information that may pay dividends later.
