A registrar sometimes visits the hospital and takes the details...10 days later the gas and air has worn off and she goes to register the child. It can also happen if the father is not available at the first registration but within a time limit returns to add his details to the entry..especially if the parents were not married at the time of the birth.

	Also, if parents are not married the entry can appear under mum's name and dad's name. Jill
