Hello Elaine
Many thanks but I have worked it out now and have it up and running on my new computer. The problem was with blueyonder. They were having problems yesterday with connections.

Many thanks
Margaret

FTM is compatible with Vista providing you download the update patch.
Once you have downloaded the patch you must install it in the same folder as the one which contains Family Tree maker 2006.

You cannot transfer FTM2006 from one computer to another. You will need to get the original FTM2006 disc and install this on your computer, then download the update, then transfer your working file from the old computer to the new one, then open it.

What error messages are you getting.

I believe that FTM 2006 is NOT compatible for Vista - do you still have the packaging ?

I think later versions of FTM were writen for Vista - there is a conundrum..

You would need the updated version of FTM to be downloaded BUT as you can't load FTM 2006 in the first place, the downlaod won't work...

It may mean paying for a more up todate FTM which is Vista compatible,,,,, sorry

I have recently purchased a new computer with Vista and have been trying to transfer my Family Tree MAker 2006 from my old one by means of a memory stick. It tells me it is inconpatable and to install update which I have. But is still says it is incompatable. Anyone have any ideas or solutions please.
