Hi, I have searched and others have had a go on the other threads to find a relative of mine born around 1848, there appears to be no records that exactly match although there is one possible cert that I have ordered just in case.
My question is, how do I proceed with the family tree now? as the missing lady was my great great grandmother, I am a bit stuck without her birth cert.

any tips greatly appreciated, and thanks to all who helped search!

well you could put what you know on this thread and people will try to help you - you could also look on the Mormon LDS site which is free and has loads of information going back centuries

If you know her name............1851 census is a good starting point

Thanks Ann, don't want to ask for more help searching as plenty of people have helped already but to no avail! I will look or the LDS site, do you have to pay to use it?

I had a chap on the 1881 census site help me with the search and he can't find a reference with the correct names/place of birth etc. He said he searched 1851/1861/1871 and found nothing matching!

Annette, birth registration wasn't compulsory until 1875 so you may not find a birth registration.

I know you said you had already posted the details before but it's worth another try.

I presume you have her marriage cert with father's name on. Sometimes a father's name is ficticious if they were illegitimate.

Hi Christine, yes I have her marraige cert I have searched for her father (John Baxter) but have no idea when he was born, except that he must have been a suitable age to have children when she (Sarah Baxter) was born in 1848ish! Have had no luck with a John Baxter from Workington area and don't have any more info...

I am going to try Davids suggestion later but as I am searching for a John or a Sarah I feel it make take some time!!!! Oh for a relative called marmaduke or similar!!!!
