You can serach some Northumbrland records for baptisms etc at
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html

Its actually under the Durham Bishops Transcripts.

You have to look through page by page though.

Can anyone suggest a site that is good for Northumberland searches

Durham records online is great although not complete

but need to search Northumberland and can not find any sites, with parish records etc
