Tracing an adoptee born 1929

I'd appreciate any help the experienced GR crowd can give me. I've recently discovered that my mum had a cousin born in 1929, Trevor Treeby, registered in Lambeth. Trevor was then adopted (confirmed by the London Metropolitan Archives). Another GR guru has searched all records and can't find any evidence or records of Trevor, so presumably his name was changed when adopted. We would dearly love to find out what happened to Trevor and maybe he's still alive, but I don't know where to start. I'd appreciate any words of wisdom, many thanks
