1999 Death records

The General Register Office allocates a reference to every event of birth, marriage or death registered in England and Wales. This relates to the year, quarter, and district that the entry was registered in. This reference is only of use to the General Register Office and not to local registration offices who have their own system.

I suspect this is the information you have, tick the have GRO box and enter the details. (month, year, district ). The certificate will arrive with the date of the birth/marriage/date

I have just received 2 death certificates. 1 for 1991 and the other 1996.
I ordered online and just ticked the box for whether reference was known. I only knew month of registration from the registration entry.
You don't need to know ALL details to be able to order online.
I ordered last week, night of 20th and night of 21st. One cert arrived Saturday, the other came yesterday.

Thanks everyone. I will take all your advice and see how I get on. I have been "away" from the my family search for sometime now but have decided to bite the bullet and try again.
Kind regards
Chrissie

Ring the office local to the event and ask them for a copy of the death cert - you can pay over the phone probably.

Hi Christine,

I have ordered a couple from that period, I think I left it as the year and month of death, but inserted the date of birth.

I do know it is possible.

Kind regards
Amanda

I am trying to find the exact date of death someone who died in 1991 but all I get is the month and the year and I can't order a certificate without the full date. Any idea how I can get the date?
Thanks
