RG10/213/92/73

On Ancestry, when you view the household page, underneath there's a yellow box which says:
"Save This Record
Attach this record to a person in your tree as a source record, or save for later evaluation."
and there's a "Save" button. Underneath this is:
Source Citation: Class: RG10; Piece: 213; Folio: 92; Page: 73; GSU roll: 824597.

Alternatively, on the image itself, there's a slip of paper in the margin which says:
RG10/213 and on the page #73 here, there's a folio # (usually stamped on, but written here) of 92.
Actually, only the odd pages have the folio number on them - if you've got an even page, you get the folio # off the preceeding page (i.e., it's the same for 2 pages).
NB 1841 is slightly different, as they didn't have their act together then.

Eunice Report 28 Oct 2008 22:12

there are some interesting names to view, Leanne! so far - in 1861 Samuel is a pupil at Melksham in Wilts aged 13. In 1851 aged 3 he is living at 17 High St with parents James, aged 25 a butcher and employer of men. James's wife Caroline is aged 40. She seems to have a daughter, also Caroline, named Caroline Bowles Gannslatt??? Also another son Robert aged 1 year. One of Sam's apprentices's I thought was called Caractacus (I liked that as I have one somewhere in my own tree!!) but the transcript reads something else entirely! Good luck, anyway! E x

I presume you have followed him through with the later censuses? In 1881 for eg he is farming 1240 acres and employing men and boys; with Emily Elizabeth. 1891 and 1901 simply has him down as farmer.

Thank you- i'll be honest he's not mine, but mine are the plummers (mistranscribed as plimmers) he is lodging with. Ann the mother was born market lavington and i know that her daughters cousin married sir william quiller orchardson so am making it my task to find out how exactly so am looking into every possible avenue to try and find a connection.

thank you very much, it's all very helpful, they're awkward to track and as the connection is before 1837 am finding it very difficult to find, but the cousins mother was also born market lavington so i think that may the connection! thought i should try to find it.

thanks a lot for your help, really appreciate it.x

could i just ask how you found the piece/folio info etc i've never been able to find it.

could a very wonderful person with brilliant eyes please see if they can decipher what is written in the occupation section for Samuel W Farmer in the 1871 census? he was born about 1848 in Market Lavington, Wiltshire and living at 13 Euston road in marylebone. i cannot read what appears to be a mini paragraph in the occupation space, although i think it begins butcher?

sorry i am ashamed to say i don't know where to find the page/vol num etc.

Thanks in advance,
Leanne.x
