Can anyone help me please? I have started a tree on the GR site, but recently read info on here that this is not the best. I looked at the FTM site and wish to transfer my info there once I buy it.
I saved my tree to 'my documents' but cant open it.
Is there a way to copy the tree from GR site?
( I am not very computer literate!!)

Many thanks, Julie.

Your GR tree will probably have been saved to your computer as a Gedcom file, which can be opened by most family history programs. So, when you get FTM, you should be able to open it with that.

You could down load a free tree maker called a PAF (Personal Ancestry File) from:
http://www.familysearch.org/

This is a good tree maker and the basis of most other tree makers. I used it for years before buying FTM and then only because it had a 90 day sub to Ancestry.

You can have more than one tree on PAF and FTM. Once it is installed on your computer you can then download your tree from here by Gedcom.
