On my grandfathers birth certificate (1884) his fathers occupation 'looks' like sugarbaker.

Has anyone had this, or anthing like this , or can give me any advise please

wonderful thank you.

I was especially confused as as of this week we found out that my grandfather had german parents and that his birth name was different from his death name.....

We have previously had no connection with anone in a catering/baking industry.

we were from brewers and transport

In case anyone's looking for odd occupations, there's a useful website called The Index of Old Occupations (you can find it by Googling) - have found it very good.

Oh Gill, yes sugarbakers came over in their hundreds to London! Ive got one too.

i used to have a link to a sugar baker site which described the family timeline of one of the german immigrants, and their baking processes.....but alas . I cant find it!!
