I have been trying to find the name and location of the childrens home that my late mother was placed in when she was two years old. I have contacted all the usual childrens sociteties and searched the records of the main childrens home in the district in which she lived at the time (Islington,London) without success.
My mother, Margaret Popplewell, was born in 1909 and was placed in the home 1911/1912.I have looked at the index of the records of the Islington Board of Guardians but there does not appear to be a record of children placed in homes other than the one I've mentioned.
Please if there is anyone out there with any information that could help me or tips on how to procede I would be most grateful.

Try ringing the London Metropolitan Archives. They are so helpful.
