Can anyone tell me where to start in trying to find mariners records for my grandfather he was born in 1896 and went to sea from the age of 12
One of his ships was bombed in one of the wars but I dont know any of his ships names
He was born in Liverpool but later lived in Tyneside
Thanks

The National Archives have some good records.

They also have some research guidance on-line for both Navy and Merchant seaman
