If your problem is just a slow PC and you have to wait a long time for pages to load wait until you get Broadband, it's 10 times fster.

Hi RobG, Gremlin and Ron
Conducted software update last night to Xpack3 as dictated by computer message. Since then difficulties in accessing Home page and Outlook Express. Neighbour just came in to look at system and get me access. He said that when I go on broadband (which is being installed Friday 14th) I should see a marked improvement in the way my computer operates. He remarked on how slow operations were. Your thoughts!!!please. I regularly do complete computer scans and diskchecks.

As said, it's not the outgoing e-mails that are the problem, it's the incoming one's. If you have Norton you will be okay as your system will be clean. I hope you let Norton do a scan now and again, you can set it to do this automatically or you can select to do it anytime.

I can't see the point in scanning outgoing ones, and Symantec is not the easiest software to trouble shoot when things go awry.

Basically the mail goes for checking and your email program thinks it has been sent, whereas it hasn't.

It used to happen a lot with dial up when the email client client disconnected, before the email had gone.

Personally wouldn't advise leaving this off long term. Now that particular mail has gone, try re-checking the "scan outgoing mail" option and see if you can send. It may just have been that one it took offence to!

Hi Ron
Using Outlook Express.
Have managed to send out an email today by unchecking outgoing email scanning as suggested by Symantec Support.
Is this Ok do you think.

What client are you using for e-mail, Outlook Express or another service.

This would indicate a problem with one of your outgoing mails. Maybe one is too big (large attachment?). Try moving any outgoing mails from your outbox to another folder one by one, then hitting send/receive each time, to narrow down the problem.
Alternatively, move them all and move them back one at a time.
Hopefully this will lead you to the culprit!

There could be a number of reasons for this, it may be something to do with your Internet / Browser settings.
I suggest you contact your Internet provider (by phone or by accessing another computer), let them know what error message you are getting and they will be able to advise you.
Hope that helps.

I have a desk top computer and since yesterday I have been unable to send any emails, however I can receive them.
The message I get is " Your email message was unable to be sent because your email server rejected the sender" (1003.7)
I have followed all the suggestions given by symatec support, but still unable to send any emails.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this computer (Windows XP) is about to go through a window, aaargh!!!!
