Thanks for every ones help
I had been looking through the Ancestry 1/4s but felt
there should be another easier way especially not knowing Winifreds Surname or where they were married !!!
As far as I know there were no children of the marriage either.
Thanks to everyone.

As far as I am aware there is no index of bmd's for these years.
Ancestry have the images but they have to be searched quarter by quarter,a very time consuming task.

You can search the full index on Ancestry but it is pay site - they usually have a 14 day free trial. If you are thinking about the free trial, I would leave it a day or two as there seems to be a problem with the BMD indexes at the moment.

Do you know when William and Winifred's first child was born as this would cut down the number of years you would need to search.

Freebmd are transcribing these years at the moment but it will be a few months before they are complete.

Hi Can anyone please tell me where the best place to look up a
marriage index for around 1930--1940. I'm not having much luck. Or do I need more information on this person ?.

Im looking to find the wedding Index of William H Hughes married a Winifred unknown.

Bill was born I beleive in 1918 as the index I have for his birth is
4Q 1d 1349 Greenwich.
Any help appreciated
