Hi Margaret. Australian death certs do suppy names of parent/s. But only if known by the informant at the time of the deceased person/s....Regardless if the person was born in Australia or O/seas. In all........the ammount of information on Australian death certs is decided by how much the informant knew about the person.

Under normal circumstances Australian Death certs give quite a lot of Information about the deceased, and also in most cases will show how long the person has lived in Australia if born O/seas.

Deaths certs from the late 1800s upwards, also show any surving and also deceased childrens names and ages.

Typical Death Cert 1884 ( My great grandfathers )
Where and when died.
Name and surname of person/rank/profession.
Cause of death.
Last person/s to see deceased. ( Doctor/Hospital )
Name and surnames of Mother * Maiden* /Father/rank/profession.
Signature of Informant.
Name of religious minister.
Burial...When and where buried...if burial registered.
Where born and how long in Australia
If deceased was married, and at what age, and to whom.
Childrens names and ages.
