Just thought I would put this on..
I check constantly on Ebay for my grandads war medals..hopefully one day they will be there but in the meantime any I come across for the first world war I check out the names on Ancestry trees...

So far I have contacted about 8 people who have the name of the soldier in their tree whos medals are for sale..one tree had date of death unknown and there for sale were his medals and history to go with them..he died at the battle of the Somme..I sent a message to the tree owner..I dont know if they did anything about it but I felt better for trying..

All Im saying is its worth checking on there..you will be surprised how much history some people have of your loved ones..I wish that someone would contact me if my grandads medals came up for sale...x

Thats a fantastic idea.

I think its very sad that someone who fought for their country and was awarded a medal which would have meant a lot to them is now being sold on ebay for under £10! I feel like I should buy them!

Im going to start looking now too.

Thanks
