Each registration district has a volume number.

You can find out what they are on the Genuki website here:-

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/

The page number is just the page number for the individual register books that each register office use. The will start on page one and carry on entering births until the book is full and then start a new book at page one again.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for reading...

I was just wondering, when looking at birth and death records, there are two colums at the end which represents Volume number and page number... I was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me on how they assigned page and volume numbers, as I am doing an art project on data records and would just like to understand the process.

Thank you for your time!
