I would guess it's: George Smith, Farm Servant, of Ribney Farm (or Hamlet, etc.) I've noticed there's often a reluctance to waste ink on punctuation marks.

i was thinking that as well, but on all the other records on the page it has a job after the father and one says f. servt.

If you google Ribney it comes up about immigrations. Perhaps FS means foreign subject!

sorry its an OPR from 1824. it says:

Helen, lawful daughter to Geo. Smith F.S. Ribney was born 23rd January 1824.

i have a birth certificate here (to be perfectly honest i'm not even sure its the right one) but it says the father is Geo. Smith F.S. Ribney.

What does F.S. Ribney mean?
