Just checked Manitoba where they have deaths up to 70 years ago. No luck.

It's very difficult to find his death in Canada, Sandra. All provinces have their own vital statistics. I've checked Ontario and British Columbia which are the only ones that I know that have such recent records. Needless to say, I've had no luck.

Thanks Margaret, is it possible to look at a death for him, because maybe he came to Canada later than 1911.

Thanks again.

I can't find him on the 1901 or 1911 Canadian census.

Thanks Sylvia, I know his mother never remarried as I have her DC, but on Edwards BC it says Edward Alexander Forbes or Rae, Rae being his mother's MS, he is illigitimate.

I will try some of your suggestions, thanks again.

Kind regards
Sandra.

are you sure that his mother did not remarry, and that he isn't under her new name??

You can go to www.findmypast.com, and do a search for emigration. You will see the names and ages of people, and where they sailed from and to.

Then you have to buy credits to look for more information.

If you do this search, remember that people who emigrated to Canada, could have gone to Halifax or Montreal, or to a US port and then traveled overland.

All immigrants to Canada after about 1900 and who entered throught Pier 21 in Halifax may possibly be found on a listing from that National Historic Site. Google to find the full web address.

Immigrants to the US who entered through Ellis Island may be found on that site ....... it is free but you have to register. www.ellisisland.org
