help can anyone tell me if there are any sites that give listings or give info on prisoners of war of world war two, I think I might be able to get info by going to Kew in London but that isn't a choice at the moment. In particular a british soldier I have his name his army number and his prisoner of war number but nothing else I have had a bit of a look but to no avail if anyone has any useful tips I would be very grateful. thanks in anticipation Tessa

Hi Tessa,

Unless the soldier died during WW2, you won't be able to access these records. They're held by the Ministry of Defence and won't be opened to the public for another 40 odd years yet.

If however, he died, the next of kin can apply to access the records. MOD have an application form which can be downloaded.

Hi Tessa,

Have a look at this site it is the ICRC and they have records of most WW2 prisoners in europe.

Have used them myself but do not expect it to be quick.

You fill the form in oline and wait.
