Is it Army, Navy, or Royal air Force you are seeking?Different procedures for each Service.

Here is the link to the Veterans Agency which explains, note Service records for WW2 are stil held by the Authorities and are not available online.

You can send for the Army ones - I think you have to include a death certificate and be next of kin. It is about £30 if I remember correctly. They are not very detailed - a lot of abbreviations etc.

What is it you are looking for?
If it is a casualty then the CWGC site is a good place to start
