Hi, I'm new to this detective work - can anyone tell me how I find birth records for an ancestor born in 1818 without spending money or travelling to the local BMD office. The only info I have is that the family came from the Kendal area.
Many thanks
Brenda

Well you could start with the Family Search site (new pilot one mentioned in a recent post is very good).

OR you could give all the details here and someone might take a look if they already have a subscription to a suitable site.

HI Brenda

What is the family surname and which area of Kendal did they come from and perhaps I might be able to help you.
