Victim Charles Clifford Mant murdered 19/7/1917 at Anthony, he was an Army Sergeant.

Thomas Joseph McDonald (also known as McDonough) of Richmond was tried by civil power at Bodmin for the wilful murder of Charles Clifford Mant (WW1 Pension records) but was found by the jury to be insane. He was sent to Broadmoor, and was never to leave.

Nothing obvious in the Times is coming up. There are files for some prisoners of Broadmoor at the National Archives.

Local newspapers for Bodmin area might give a report on the trial. They will be at the local Archives or Local Studies Library.
