I subscribe to Ancestry and I did subscribe to the Genealogist.

OH`s idea to cancel Genealogist and try another one, so I did and tried FMP. I was not impressed at all re lack of information and as I am still in the time limit for cancelling think I might do that like Chris, doesnt come up with anything I search for, the censuses are nowhere near complete for all the counties.

Again thank you all.

I'd already had misgivings about searches on FMP but was being seduced by access to 1911.

Relented and signed up to Ancestry for 1 more year - now I really will have to get my finger out to fill any gaps.

Address search is on Ancestry for 1881 census.

Thanks all (so far), does anyone make much use of 'address find' (findmypast)? I'm sure I managed it on ancestry once ages ago, but either it wasn't there or they did a re-arrangement of facilities again (?).

correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can put corrections on find my past ? At least with ancestry there are alternative spellings and mistranscriptions highlighted

I subscribed to findmypast but cancelled two days later. Quite a few of the searches I did came back with no record found but I knew the info was there as I'd seen it on Ancestry. As I'd cancelled within the time limit I got a refund minus any credits I'd used. I much prefer Ancestry.

Personally I find Ancestry the best value and have had a subscription for the last 5 years.

I also buy the odd few credits for Findmypast which I use for things like military births, deaths etc.

Being nosey now - does your board name relate to where and when you where born? I was born there in 1948.

I've been subscribed to Ancestry for a couple of years now and found it really helpful in tracking down most of my rellies back to 1840ish. However it is quite expensive too, especially when you want to buy certs from GRO as well.
It seems at time of renewal (recently, and I haven't yet) that similar level of subscription access has gone up quite a lot due to restructuring.
Is FINDMYPAST worth the sub? Especially as they have a better address search (sic)?
Any other options recomended?
