If you get the marriage cert for Fred and Agnes that will give you their father's names.

It is on Lancs BMD, but I have also found the ref no on Ancestry.

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1923
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
DRONSFIELD Fred WOOD Agnes Oldham Register Office or Registrar Attended Oldham

Ref no Oldham 8d 1416 Jul Qtr

Thank you sylvia i will look into all the information.
.the name harris was mentioned to me a couple of days ago by my auntie, which is close to the name
harrison but my auntie seemed to remember it being on my grandmas death cert, as mothers maiden name. maybe she got her wires crossed and the name harrison or harris was on my grandads death cert.
i will purchase my grandperants birth certs and see what i can find. thank you so much for your time and patience .

This is really really difficult ebcasue you have no geographical areas to help us, and Wood is such a common name.

This is one record for 1901 which has both a Mary Alice and a Gertrude ...... who you imply are the two eldest children .......... and a mother Elizabeth. Plus the area is close to Oldham where your parents were married.

However, they do have rather more children than you say!!!

BUT it is only supposition .................. we do need to know a better geographical area than England!

1901 Census

Name: Gertrude A Wood
Age: 1
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1900
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: Joseph
Mother's Name: Elizabeth
Gender: Female
Where born: Saddleworth, Yorkshire, England

Civil Parish: Springhead
Ecclesiastical parish: Lydgate St Anne
Town: Springhead
County/Island: Yorkshire

Registration district: Saddleworth
Sub registration district: Delph

Catherine Harrison 66 Mother-in-law
Elizabeth Wood 35
George Wood 10
Gertrude A Wood 1
James Wood 3
Joseph Wood 34
Joseph Wood 6
Mary Alice Wood 7
Walter Wood 12

do you know some dates ..... when your mum and dad were born and were married, as a start

Have you any idea when your grandparents were married?

That can lead us ack to your great granparents.

Was Wood your g grandmother's married name or her maiden name?

Where did these events take place?
