If you purchase a Family Tree Programme you can put all the information on there and you can add to it all the time. Irene

You may get 100 replies with 100 ways of doing it. We all have our own systems. I think that it is important to keep it in paper form as well as stored on your PC. (and something like a memory stick is a better place to store it in case of computer problems). I have a document for almost everybody on my tree, so that anything I find, even doubtful data, is put on the document until it can be verified.

Thanks that's what i have done just don't know how to go about organising it ie if my great great grandparents had 7 kids only one of those kids really apply to me which would be my great grandparent what can i do with the data for the other 6 kids etc etc.

Thanks for reading and helping me out

With the other 6 kids you could put all their data on one document and attach it to the document for their father. Then if you get more info for one of them you can expand it into it's own document.

If you do use the version downloadable on the site that Tony mentioned you can printout family record sheets. I do that for my lot. So I can have an individual page for each direct ancestor plus a family record sheet of them with their siblings. I always look for the siblings anyway as they can so often provide clues ...

It's called Personal Ancestry File - or PAF. The site is a bit confusing at times but have a good rummage.

Failing that you could contact your local Church of Latter Day Saints - they will probably have it on CD.
