You may care to know that on todays maps

Appleford Road and Adair Road are next to each other, so the family did'nt move far.

Janet 693215 Report 29 Nov 2008 20:04

My great gran had 9 children, apart from the twins everyone was born at a different address. Only four of them survived early childhood and each death of a child is at a different address apart from the twins who died 5 days apart. This means I have the same family living at 13 addresses over a period of as many years or at the height of this 1884-1893 11 addresses.

The mmn most likely a clerical error on the part of the registrar when he was recording the info given.
The address I wouldnt be fussed at as people did move around a lot .As you can see by the birth places of the siblings the family did move around. You really cant expect the same address two years after a marriage
,As I said on my brickwall my family moved at least 3 times in about 20 months period

But if he was born 1889 then chances are the family had moved by 1891. People tended to either stay put for many years OR move around often as their finances altered so I personally wouldn't worry about different addresses especially when they stay in the same area.
for instance ,I have one brick wall on (or not on!!) the 1871 census.Have one address in Mar 1870 on the marriage cert another address Nov 1870 when the first child was born .Not at either of those addresses on the 1871.have yet another address Oct 1871 when the daughter was born Not at that address either on the 1871 cannot find them anywhere!

The difference in mmn maybe just a misunderstanding of the info given to the registrar when registering the birth.especially if the parents couldn't read or write they wouldn't have been aware of any mistake

On Free bmd John Albert Austin married Laura Annie Colman Chelsea 4/4 1888 so that matches what you have -It is possible that the registrar made a mistake or the transcription is wrong and Austin was written in place of Colman -It might be worth checking with the local [Chelsea ] registrars office

I am stuck on my nan's side (Esther Annie Ausin 1901). So i had decided to start from the beginning and ordered a Birth certificate for her eldest Brother's John Albert Austin... According to the certificate it says he was born 1889 and the parents were a John Albert Austin (which is right) but the mother is listed as being Laura Annie Austin formerly AUSTIN (But she was a Laura Annie COLMAN).
On the 1891 census John Albert (Son) is listed as being aged 1. Also living with parents John and Laura at Cidair Road, Kensington, but on the birth certificate it states Appleford Road.
On the census i have it stated John Albert (father) was a Paper Hanger. Well on the Birth Certificate it also states this.

My question is... How do i confirm that this certificate is my John Albert Austin that i am looking for... as i am confused with the differences.

Please can anyone help me
