WWI Dead how can I confirm Fred is my relative

I have an ancestor Frederick George Earwicker who I have little information on except date of birth, parents and some theories about him being in one of the services.

One the Commonwealth War Graves web-site there is a Frederick George Earwicker listed as killed @ Ypres 1917 (his name is on the Menin Gate). I have his regiment and service no but there's no date of birth or relative information.

I know that lots of the WWI records were destroyed by bombing in WWII - does anyone know of there's any way I can check to see if this is my missing Fred!

Soldiers Died in the Great War has him living in Chelsea. It's quite a distinctive name - surely there can't have been too many around with that name!

Not only did he enlist in Chelsea, but he also lived in Chelsea.

The theatre of war was France & Flanders.

Hello all,
Sorry for my late reply, but I have not looked at this subject for years.
Sadly Margee I don't think your 'movember' candidate is him, pretty sure my Fred was born in Cardiff!
Regards
Karen

I could not see a birth for Margaret I Waddell, but quite a few people on here have possible births in Scotland for the birth range around 1900.

Sorry everyone. There is no 'marked as answered' above box above my original message for me to tick so therefore I cannot close it down!

KazB - that option isn't available on this particular board.

You can click edit on your first post on the thread so you can get back to amend the heading to include e.g. COMPLETE at the end of the title.

Having said that, I think we've got the message! :-)
