Oh, you're going to have to change your attitude, Andy, about not allowing for people making mistakes. Genealogy is just full of mistakes, birth years and birthplace changing from census to census. people deciding to use their middle name instead of first name. Not to menton the horrible mistranscriptions on the censuses. Keep an open mind!

I posted a death reg'n today for someone which gave the birth year incorrectly........it was a year 'out', as proved when I also found the man's birth, which was confirmed as being correct by his brother.

So don't rely on DOB's on death reg'ns..............

Hi Andrew, I don't suppose he had another christian name of Reginald did he? Found this Barnes Reginal N born Chipping N3 D27 Oct Q 1908. It was hand written at bottom of page on Ancestry. Is it yours?

This one?
Nathaniel Barnes, March quarter 1910, Tynemouth, (10b 333)
Could his birth have been Dec. 1909 instead of 1908?

Hi Looby Loo,

Thanks for the help.
His name was Nathaniel Barnes died 29/10/1976 in Northumberland c district. you will see him listed as vol 1 pg 2080.
Then gives dob 28/12/1908.
If you find his DOB register can you tell me how you did.
Thanks Andy

Date of birth is not always correct on death register. Depends on who registered the death, they didn't always know birthdate. I would suggest you expand your search +/- 2 years.

Hi All,
Hope someone can point me in right direction.
I was given the date of when my grandfather died which i duly found on the death register, i then see his DOB as 28/12/1908.
When i search for the name in births i cannot find it listed in oct/nov/dec 1908 or jan/feb/march 1909.
Am i missing something?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks Andy
