How Can I Find Their Marriage Please....

I have an Alexander Wilson born Scotland 1796 and Ann Davidson born Wareham, Dorset 1799. I have no hope of finding out who their parents were because I cannot find their marriage details. Perhaps they married in Scotland. Their first child was born in Stepney, East London around 1827. Alexander was a mariner so could have married anywhere. Any ideas please. I managed to get birth certificates of children born after 1837 to get mother's maiden name. Irene

Have you tried the International Genealogy Index (IGI)?
A good site is Familysearch.org.

That's all I can think of.

Even if you do find their marriage, it is unlikely to tell you their parents names if it was before 1837.

A transcription of Wareham baptisms is online here: http://www.opcdorset.com/WarehamFiles/WarehamBaps1791-1815.htm . No sign of an Ann Davidson baptism though - sorry.

What about checking 'SCOTLANDS PEOPLE'? You might find a baptism on there for Alexander but you'll have to buy credits to view it,

There are no less than 160 baptisms for an Alexander Wilson in Scotland between 1794-1798 on the IGI alone! Unless you know who his father was and/or which part of Scotland he was from, you have no way of knowing which one of them (if any) was yours.

Thank you for your kind replies. I think I can get no further with these ancestors and will have to close the door on them. It would only be parish records that may help me.Thanks again. Irene

Thank you Paula you are kind looking this up for me. I do have Alexander and Ann through the census 1841 and onwards and I have the birth certificates of children born after 1837. I also have marriage certificates of some of the children and death certs of Alexander and Ann. It is their marriage I cannot find.
I think because Alexander was a mariner he met Ann at Wareham or Poole where they may have married. Perhaps he left sea once he married as their first child I have a record of was born London around 1826.
Thanks again Irene
