If you are a birth family member you can apply for contact through an Adoption Support Agency. There is a charge.

'After Adoption' in Liverpool are funded to do all that areas post adoption work including other areas in the North West.

Merseyside office
60 Duke Street
Liverpool
L1 5AA
Tel: 0151 707 4322

I am not sure but I think birth family members can apply to NORCAP, National Organisation For Counselling Adoptees And Parents. They may be able to help trace adoptees. Also adoptees can register with phase 1 of the Adoption Contact Register at the OPCS (Office Of Population Censuses And Surveys, General Register Office) A birth relative can register with Phase 2 of the register. If the adoptee and a member of their birth family registers they are then contacted and put in touch with each other. Try checking this out. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Since the new Adoption laws came into force 30th Dec 2005. A birth family member can make an application to any Adoption Support Agency in their own area. Files will be transferred across.

NORCAP have their own Adoption Contact Register as well as the Government one (I've been sat on part 2 of the GRO contact register since 1991... not that it's done me any good, but I won't ever give up hope :-)

I gave After Adoption as I know they have access to the files for the Liverpool area.

Good luck to those searching and waiting for contact.

Cheers Gerry

Hi Sue

Are you a birth relative ? my BM was at Kelton for several years as where my siblings.
Try contacting Nugent Care if the adoption was arranged throught the Catholic Adoption Agency they will have records, you will need the name of the child or the BM though, let me know if you need the address.

All the mother and baby homes are listed online now on the website:

www.adoptionsearchreunion.org.uk

Click into Locating records then into Locating adoption records data base.

From there you can search for mother and baby homes, local authorities and Adoption Support Agencies.
