I was searching through matches for my Hill line and thought i had come up with a match for my grandfather .
I contacted him and he said his Alfred Hill married a different person to mine .
Fair enough you may think but he has his Alfred being born at 11 Windsor St Wallsend in 1898 , so do i .
Have i got the wrong one or has he as this has put doubts in my mind .

.Thanks for any help .Cath

David ,
I have his birth cert but not his marraige cert as i knew when they married .
.
The birth cert i have states his name is Alfred McDuff Forrest Hill .
After this member geot in contact a checked all my info and realised that he never used the middle names ,Not on my mam's birth cert or at his death .

I did manage to fine the marraige for another Alfred .
There is 2 marraiges in the BMd for Alfred Hill 1921 & 1922

David ,
This is the problem if i get the marriage cert it will only give me the fathers name .
I have checked 1901 census and there is only 1 Alfred Hill born in 1898 , there is another Alfred Hill born 1892 ..
1901 census the other Alfred and Mine both had fathers called William .
I spoke to my uncle before i ordered the birth cert and he said that he had a brother called Albert and the one i found in 1901 is the only one with a brother called Albert plus the name Forrest is also in my tree .
It is just that this member has put doubt in my mind .

Thanks

Cath

Mine is the Smelt one .
It wouldn't be the first time for a bigamist in my line ., nothing surprises me in this game .
Even if i get the marriage cert the fathers names will be the same

On checking the 1901 yes they did both have the same occ..
The area i was brought up in was all mine s then .

I hope i haven't gone down the wrong Hill line as i have got right back to 1800

With a 6 y difference in ages, I think the age on the m.cert ought to resolve matters. Ask your contact if he has the Kelly m.cert, and if he could send you a scan or a printed copy, or failing that a transcription. Ask at the RO if they will tell you anything about the Kelly m.cert - if you knew the church, you could check the parish records (assuming it's not in the RO - with a name like Kelly, it might be an RC marr, which would have taken place in a church, but with the registrar attending to oversee the signing of the register, and be officially recorded in the registrar's book, not the church's. However, the RC church would also have an entry in their parish records).
