No, you apply for the certificate from the GRO, but it has a special overseas reference number.

These can be found on the Find my Past website, in the overseas section, but you need to know his details, from the cwgc site.

If you want me to look for you I will.

I assume that you have the details of his death, if not go to
http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp

and come back with the details, then I will find the reference number for you

Would a soldiers death get registered at the same registry office as that of his place of birth if he was killed during WW2??
