Had an e-mail from GR today saying someone had given me access to their tree. Clicked on the link, and found the mystery contact, but no tree access.

Message from GR Team

Hi,

We wanted to reassure everyone that we haven’t made any changes to the functionality of tree permissions. To clarify, in your message centre where the ‘Access to your tree’ says ‘Allow’ this means that the other member does not currently have access to your tree. To grant them permission to view your tree you will need to click ‘Allow’. Where it says ‘Stop’ this means that you have previously granted the other member permission to view your tree. If you wish to stop them viewing your tree please click ‘Stop’.

We have just added tick and cross icons into this column to make this logic clearer.

If you have any further queries please email into our Customer Support team as we are simultaneously running the old site behind the scenes in the instance of member queries.

Apologies for any confusion caused over tree permissions and we hope the addition of the icons helps clear this up.

Kind regards,

The Genes Reunited Team

The way it works hasn't changed as far as I can see.

I think it was better when they had the little green trees showing because you could see straight away if you had had access to someones tree or they had access to yours.

I have had lots of messages from people, who like me were confused by the new system

The tree access is the opposite way round from the way it seems

If it says ALLOW next to the contacts name, they CAN'T see it
If STOP is next to it, they can
