Hi, could anyone point me in the right direction to find relatives in Germany. I have hit a brick wall!! The person I am trying to trace is
The father of William Beyer whos christian name is Lorenz Beyer (could be Bayer, Byer, Bauer) They seem to have changed the spelling.
William Beyer is on 1841 census wife Sophia Heine(natrulised British).

A relative has given me the following info on Lorenz Beyer
Born 1770 at Neiderstetten Duchy of Vurttenberg (Wurttenberg?)

Are there any German registrations available on line that maybe I could look at? I have tried and tried but no luck so far. Family search didn't prove fruitful, have tried googleing, etc.
Would be very grateful for any help.
Thank you Jenny

Hi Anne, I don't have an exact date of birth but this looks promising. How did you find it, I checked and checked on LDS and never saw this......obviously I'm not paying attention :-)
I can only go back to Lorenz so don't know if these are his parents and its the right one. The year is right though...I will go and continue investigations. Thank you so much for your help. Jenny

For anybody looking for rellies in Germany - this is a great free site....but you have to be able to speak/read German (like people on here have to have English to navigate around)

http://gedbas.genealogy.net/

I found a load of my wife's rellies on that site in 1700-1800's!!! :-)

Good luck - if you have problems with the site - let me know.

Jenny,

There is an Anglo-German Family History Society that you could try. I assume it caters for non-German speakers.

To HiFly and Peter, thank you for these I will have a look.
I think my problem is I know Wiliiam 1799 is the son of Lorenz but have no idea as to his mothers name. I also don't know if William was born in England or Germany. I suspect it is Germany as his wife is natrulised british. I will let you all know how I get on. Thanks to all who have offered suggestions.

Still struggling with this. No luck on find birth details for William Beyer approx 1799 which might help me located Lorenz, think it might involve a trip to Germany!!
