Does anyone know what a box maker and box cutters were? Marriage certificate of 1912 shows the Groom as a box cutter and the Bride as a box maker.

I'm just a bit baffled!!

Thanks

They were exactly what they sound like! A box cutter was a person who cuts the shape of cardboard boxes from a roll of cardboard. A box maker was the person that actually made them up into boxes.

Hi Sam

Thanks for your quick reply. I wondered if they made matchboxes but your explanation is more plausible.
