You can't download anything which is not on your own computer. Your GR tree is not on your computer.

Just export your GR tree and they will send you an email with a Gedcom file attachment. To do this go to Import/Export gedcom near the bottom of the page and follow the instructions.

Once tou receive the email, save the file wherever you wish, on a stick, cd or your computer, or another computer.

As stated, to make sense of the file, you will need to install a family tree program such as FTM, or PAF.

Now, I think I've led you up the wrong path because I wasn't thinking GR tree. Though really I should have.

Do you have some type of Gedcom program you can download it to once you've saved it? Downloading onto a memory stick is fine but it's when you want to use it again that you need a program that reads a Gedcom file.

If you go to the help page & type "saving tree" into search they have a whole lot on saving to a CD [or memory stick].

Huia - according to GR you load the whole file.

Hi, Ozbird from a Kiwibird.
Do we have to download a page at a time or will it download the whole tree? I would like to do mine ready for when I leave this site in a year if they have not improved it.

Plug memory stick into pc.

Open your family tree. 'Save as ' in your stick which will be in 'My Computer', possibly called 'Removable Disk'.
