Mining records

I have found a burial record for a relative that says "Died at Winter Pit (Coal); Buried on December 14, 1895 "I have never heard of Winter Pit in the local area (sheffield) and I have no reason to believe the relative ever moved away from Sheffield. I've tried Google and got no results. Does anybody have any idea where Winter Pit was or how to find out. I just wondered if he died as a result of some mining incident that might be recorded more fully elsewhere.

Found the mine. I still don't know why he died there, but this is a start.
