I'm glad you got it sorted I'm still waiting. I received mail from genes to let them know who's tree I'm trying to view I've sent them the relevant details so have to wait again.

Sending a request will only prompt the other person to authorize access, not actually do it. A better way might be to send them a PM, explain the problem and ask them to re-check their permissions.

It would appear that other member has not understood the process at their end as x Request means that they have NOT given you access.

What they should see in their My contacts against your name, is a tick and the word Stop in the column headed Access to your tree . It is likely that they have a X and the word Allow. The words Stop or Allow are prompting an action, not telling you the current status

many thanks for your thoughts, have requested yet again, still no joy unless the person i'm asking is doing it wrong,
On the contacts list it keeps stating x request even though i have 3 times now, it was so much easier before the change.

Just posted this on General.

If you are still having problems, can you go to My Contacts and tell us what you can see under the column headed "Access to their tree" Can you see a tick and the word view? If not then the other person has not given you access permissions.

To load a tree you also need to have pop-ups disabled for the site, and also have the latest version of Macromedia flash. You also need to ensure your internet cache is cleared regularly otherwise there could be insufficient space to load the file. You can do this through Tools, Options, or try pressing control and F5 on your keyboard.

Click on "messages" in top bar.
Now go to "my contacts" top left.
All the trees will have a tick or a cross.
Those with a tick can be viewed.
