Hello Everybody,

I have the same problem with 0000 dates, which is why I have been searching this forum today. I have already made some detailed comments on the thread "Dates on Downloaded Gedcom" which can be found here http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1107463&px=1.

In summary, I have the same problems as Jenny with my marriage and baptism dates, but I would also advise checking for a specific issue with all dates, including those for births and deaths.

Where only the month and year of an event is known, and this was entered into GR as mm/yyyy, then the Gedcom file now records this as 01/mm/yyyy. In effect, you need to verify all events that are currently showing as having occurred on the 1st day of the month.

Regards,

Philip Clarke

Yes, Jenny, a couple of us have noticed this problem - I reported it to GR about a month ago and they still haven't fixed it! I ended up opening my GEDCOM in Notepad and typing all the missing years back in (luckily I had an old copy of the GEDCOM to look them up in and then got the newest ones by looking them up in my tree on here). It took me ages, and I am never going to make the mistake of building my tree on here again.

What I really can't understand is that the version number of the extract program given at the top of the file is the same number as on my previous GEDCOM (downloaded in October) - and the dates were o.k. on that file. So they obviously can't just switch back to the previous version of the program.

It is a known problem with GR.
There was a thread about it a week or two ago.

have exported gedcom file from GR to own software - the file is exporting ok except that the year on all baptism and marriage dates is displaying 0000 - the date for births and deaths is ok.

I have used rootsmagic and wintree - have never had a problem with this before.

Have contacted GR and awaiting reply - any ideas !!!!
