Hello again

Directories I have looked at for Northumberland/Durham have different sections. Some have streets with residents listed,a "court" listing which is an alphabetical list of residents and trade and business sections with trades listed alphabetically.
They are not always comprehensive,I suppose businesses may have had to pay for an entry,a bit like yellow pages.
Bear in mind that the entries will not always be up to date for the year in which the directory was published.

Thanks for this Mike, Do historical directories hold all business information. I'm trying to find a coffee house i have an address for but don't know if it would have info like this. Thank you for the tip Mike.

Just a reminder for anyone who has not found this site yet. Directories are invaluable in filling in the gaps between census, and BMD certificates.
Just Google Historical Directories.
