birth reference 1830?

i have a reference for an overseas birth on the military registers for 1830 can i? how do i? apply for a copy of the registration? as it is before 1837 will i get anything from gro?

Hi Grumpy,

If the reference is from 1830, you'll receive a copy of the details of the birth that was recorded by the regimental pastor/priest.

To order it, you'll need to provide the GRO indice that the birth appears in. For example:

GRO ARMY CHAPLAINS BIRTH INDICES (1796 to 1880)

Name:

Place:

Regiment:

Year:

Page:


Note that I didn't include volume. In most of these early records, only a page number was provided. Only a few of them did provide a volume number plus page number so if this is the case with yours, you must provide it.
