The census taken in the village I am researching only gives the names of the roads/streets and any named houses that exist. I would like to pinpoint the houses that still stand today. Is there any way of finding out the route that the enumerator took,. thus enabling me to recognise houses that still stand?

The place where my family came from showed no house number even on 1911 census. Nor were there any addresses on birth or death certificates.
I grew up in the place but find it very hard to pinpoint where the houses were located

At the beginning of each folio in a census there should be a written detail of the Area/Streets etc covered by the person taking the census

In the 1841 census I have found enbtries in country aress similar to these
You go across the field pass the haystacks and turn right into the farmyard
Another was pass the widows cottage and the 2 horses in the field

The only guide is usually something like a pub or manor house shown (they normally survive) and then you can work out either way from there. Its very difficult when it just says The Cottage, by the school is ok, near the turnpike not so good - and of course a lot of places will be gone now or renumbered.
