I’d like to recommend a book ,“Getting It Right” by Mary Slawson. (I have no financial interest in its sale.) It is “The definitive guide to recording family history accurately”. There are explanations and lists for names, titles and offices, dates, geographic locations and events, etc.

For example: the accepted method of entering dates in genealogy is by day, month written out, year (without commas). When all dates are numbers it increases the likelihood of misunderstanding as US usually express a date as month day year or 3/1/1989 for March 1, 1989 and UK as day month year or 1/3/1989 for the same.

Book is available on Amazon.com.
